I’m running the London Marathon for Surfers Against Sewage
I am very happy to say that I’ll be running the 2027 London Marathon aaaaahhh! I love to run and it’s been a bit of a life goal for me to one day run the London Marathon. Turns out that one day is the 25th April, in just 6 short months time.
I’ll be covering 26 miles across my home city in support of Surfers Against Sewage, a brilliant grassroots charity who do incredible work to educate, monitor and campaign against plastic and sewage pollution in the UK’s oceans and rivers. As someone that grew up by the sea and runs annual retreats on the Cornish coast, it’s a cause that feels very close to home.
To help reach my fundraising target I’ll be hosting a series of classes and events, including a runners recovery workshop in London, online mobility sessions and a weekend retreat on the Suffolk coast.
Why Surfers Against Sewage?
Like me, I’m sure you have read stories in the news about shocking and avoidable sewage pollution in recent years. Amongst so many other important projects, Surfers Against Sewage are calling for reform on a seriously broken water industry. They work to monitor water quality in our beaches and put pressure on water companies and the government to improve practice. You can sign the #EndSewagePollution petition here and use their live sewage map before swimming here.
Fundraising goes to support collecting national water quality data, educational programmes, equipment and nationwide protests.
Here’s how you can support me ahead of next year's marathon:
1. Donate to SAS
Here’s my justgiving page, where you can donate directly to Surfers Against Sewage. I’m looking to raise a target of £2,500 in the coming months and every donation, big or small, goes a long way towards an important cause.
2. Join my fundraising events
I’ll be hosting a series of fundraising events in the run up to the marathon.
The first is a Rest & Recovery session at 7 Breaths Meditation. The session is open to all but will particularly helpful for anyone else who is running, cycling or using their body a lot. We’ll explore soft floor-based stretches, myofascial release and guided relaxation. The event is free to sign up with a suggested donation to Surfers Against Sewage.
Sunday 18th October from 1.30 - 3pm, 7 Breaths Meditation
I’m also hosting a weekend retreat by the sea. We’ll enjoy 2 nights at Felixstowe Ferry, long runs along the coast and through the marshes and yoga warm ups, cool downs and mobility sessions too. Your payment covers the accommodation and food costs, with a suggested donation towards Surfers Against Sewage.
Friday 5th to Sunday 7th March, The Boathouse Felixstowe Ferry
3. Follow me on Strava
Are you a runner too? Follow me on Strava so we can keep each other motivated. If you have friends who are also running the marathon, put us in touch, I would love to find some friendly people to chat about training with.
