Runners Weekend for Surfers Against Sewage
Running & Yoga Retreat
Felixstowe Ferry, Suffolk
Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th March 2027
A fundraiser retreat of community led runs, expert guided stretch sessions, nourishing meals that you don’t have to cook yourself and cracking coastal views. Set in a waterside boat house, tucked on the estuary in Felixstowe Ferry.
This retreat isn’t about chasing seconds off your PB or the running influencer aesthetic, it’s simply a chance to move well and learn how to better support the body alongside training. I’ll be sharing the yoga inspired warm ups, cool downs and mobility practices that are helping me in my training for the 2027 London Marathon. My brother, runner of many marathons, will be joining us to guide our daily friendly morning runs.
Felixstowe is the town we grew up in. With running routes heading out along the River Deben as well as along the coastline, it’s an ideal spot to train, and enjoy the views along the way.
Here’s how the weekend will unfold ….
Land, unpack and explore before for our first dinner together
Saturday morning warm up yoga flow at the boathouse before a short morning run session
Optional cold dip in the sea
Afternoon yoga mobility workshop
Hearty evening feast
Sunday morning long run
Runners recovery yin yoga session
Roast at the local pub
This retreat is a fundraiser for Surfers Against Sewage, a grassroots group campaigning against sewage and plastic waste in the UKs rivers and seas. In April 2027, I’ll be taking part in the London Marathon to support their work. I grew up swimming in this sea and am broken hearted by the avoidable sewage pollution our natural environment has been subject to, while top dogs at private water companies continue to take home giant pay checks. By participating in this weekend, you’ll be helping preserve the health of coastal landscapes so that the next generation of ocean swimmers can safely enjoy all the joys of being in the water.
-
We will cater the pace and distance of our runs according to the group that signs up for the retreat, with options for long and shorter routes depending on experience.
If you’re preparing for a full or a half marathon, there’ll be the option for a longer run of around 20k on the Sunday, but there’ll also be an option for a shorter approximately 10k loop.
We’ll be a group of just 8 people and can easily accommodate individual needs.
-
Based on somatic principles and inspired by yoga philosophies - our sessions are not a performance, they’re a chance to turn in and feel deeper. We’ll look specifically to find space through rotation in the spine, strength at centre as well as explore the experience of the hips, legs and feet.
You’ll leave the weekend with an easy, memorable warm up to come back to before your next long run plus plenty of tips to support your recovery going forwards.
If you’ve never practiced yoga before, I’ll guide you through everything you need to know with practices that are open, accessible and supportive.
-
Expect hearty meals to fuel your movement practice. Think; homemade granola, fruit bowls, eggs every way, big bowls of warm chilli, homemade lasagna and many sides and salads. All dietary requirements can be catered for and snacks, teas and coffee will be available throughout the weekend.
Alcohol is not included but you are welcome to head to the Ferry Boat Inn (2 mins walk away) for an evening pint. After our Sunday practice, we’ll head to the pub for a well-deserved roast dinner. -
We’ll be staying at The Boathouse in Felixstowe Ferry, uniquely placed right on the waters edge and full of cute quirky charm. It’s a quiet spot to watch the birds and the boats go by. There’s a mixture of superking, double and bunk rooms available. Just let me know your preference when booking.
-
Felixstowe is accessible by train from London, with a change in Ipswich. We’ll be there to pick you up and drop you back off at Felixstowe station. There’s plenty of space for parking if you’re travelling by car.
Pricing:
Superking Ensuite with Panoramic View £300 per person for double occupancy / £550 for single occupancy
Double Ensuite £250 per person for double occupancy / £500 for single occupancy

With this in mind, I ask that you contribute a suggested donation of £50 to £200 towards my fundraising page for Surfers Against Sewage in addition to the cost prices listed here. Your donation will go a long way towards my London Marathon goal and make a real impact on ocean health.
